Community Centre

This Community Centre at Harestua in Lunner Municipality combines the folliwing functions; jr. high school, public library, concert stage, sports centre, restaurant and market hall. The site is an old sawmill which is being converted to a medium density central area with a mix of housing, public service and commerce. The community centre building is part conversion and part assimilation of two existing industrial halls.

Special care has gone into making the different parts of the programme benefit from each other, in particular in relation to the school. Young teenagers are constantly probing the borders into the adult world, and the general layout of the plan reflects this; with a gradation of social spaces from private through communal to public.
