Cylinder Chair

This first-year project introduced students to steel and the school workshops. Students were encouraged to explore the theme ‘to support’.

Energy was not spent on ‘being original’ (i.e, the concept of a chair is not new). Our target was well within established conventions – ergonomics. The size and positioning of the steel cylinders combined with a spring mechanism work togther to provide the necessary shape and elasticity.
